WDW Star Wars Weekend

It's that time of year again where Star Wars fans unite at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Probably my most favorite event that Disney hosts, Star Wars weekend has now been expanded to last 5 weeks rather than 4. What I'm most excited about is that Disney now has the freedom to expand on the events during Star Wars Weekend due to now owning the franchise. The event will take place over the following weekends:

Weekend I: May 16-18
Weekend II: May 23-25
Weekend III: May 30 - June 1
Weekend IV: June 6-8
Weekend V: June 13-15

In typical Disney fashion, there is always a story to tell. As one of the best storytelling companies in the world, Star Wars Weekend focuses on a general theme and a mission to all guests: Join the Rebellion. Gary Buchanan, social media managing editor for WDW, revealed that the reason for the extra weekend is to give guests a chance to join the rebellion and to combat the tyrannous rule of Darth Sidious.

James Arnold Taylor, the voice of Obi Wan Kenobi on "Star Wars: Clone Wars", will be hosting this year's event. Disney not yet released the event schedule yet, but I can only imagine the amount of celebrities that will be appearing for meet and greets. Last year, the list of celebrities included Warwick Davis (Ewok), Ray Park (Darth Maul), Tim Rose (Admiral Ackbar), Peter Mayew (Chewbacca) and many more. I can only imagine that this year is going to be even better. On top of doing meet and greets with celebrities, Boba Fett, Darth Maul, Darth Vader, Luke and Leia Skywalker, Jedi Mickey, and many others will be walking the streets of Sunset Boulevard for pictures and signatures.

Disney is still choosing not to disclose new additions that are going to be happening this year, but I can say that a new fireworks show will be keeping the attention of guests of all ages up in the skies. Disney describes the new show to be a gala fireworks show featuring Star Wars music similar to that of the "Symphony in the Stars" show featured last year on May 4th for the "May the Fourth be with you" event.
